Sewing a Bag From An Old Tshirt

Last week I finally had the class on learning how to use my new sewing machine. It was a lot of fun and got me excited about finally starting on my Top 10 Sewing Projects I Want to Complete list. The first thing I decided to make from my list was a bag out of an old tshirt. I found this shirt at Goodwill for a dollar. When I saw it I couldn't resist it because, well, its just so me.

Anyway, Saturday I took some time to sortof follow this tutorial on making the bag. I say sortof because it just seems to be against my nature to completely follow instructions. Anyway, you can see how the bag turned out by the picture. I love it and already started toting it around this weekend. I had to show it off to my family.

On Sunday, while I was at my parent's house I also picked up some patterns and some more material from my mom. (She has a HUGE collection of both). Plus I picked up a pattern, material and notions for another bag that I will be using as my new lunch bag once its complete. I'm so excited. I got the material on clearance. Oh how I love the clearance section at Joanns!
